Just lately, I’ve written a lot of guest posts on some really useful sites. There are also ones that I’ve been meaning to give a mention to as I’m always being asked for advice on writing. So I thought I’d pop a few of them all on one place – there’s a wealth of information on their sites, useful for everyone.
Writer and Artists
Before the internet, I used to look forward to and buy the Writers and Artists Yearbook every year. Every September, I’d buy it, scour it, ring all the agents I wanted to submit to in pencil and away my envelopes with three chapters and synopsis (or whatever the agent required, which is why the book was so useful) would go. I was delighted to do this interview, especially alongside my agent, Madeleine Milburn. This post has had masses of retweets and shares – thank you.
I met Joanna at London Book Fair where I did my first, and giggly, podcast. We chatted over lunch about all things books and writing. When I got home I took a look at her site and quickly followed it for regular updates. Joanna runs The Creative Penn website - some really useful advice on those too. I also follow her podcasts. And if you’re book isn’t selling and you want to know why, this is a fantastic page to read!
Catherine Ryan Howard
I talk about one of her books, SELF-PRINTED, all the time. I have a copy in print that I bought and also the e-book and it’s fantastic value for money. Whenever I’m asked for advice on how to self-publish, I mention this book. No, I’m not on commission – it’s a genuinely great book. Priceless for me.
And finally, I’m going to end the post on some good news for a friend of mine. We all know how hard it is to get an agent, how you have to find the right one too – someone who gets you and your writing. I’m lucky enough to have found my perfect match at the end of last year, so I’m thrilled that my friend, Rebecca Bradley, has signed up with Kate Nash Literary Agency. I read her manuscript, SHALLOW WATERS, mentioned it here too, and can’t wait to see what happens with it. Rebecca is over on twitter as @rebeccajbradley
I’m also hoping to post my own good news on here soon too… but just to end the talk of lovely people, I’m over at Holly Hepburn’s blog talking about the bad boys that I like.
